DIY Ginger Firebomb Immunity Booster

In this strange time that we find ourselves in, I am doing everything I can to keep my stress low and my immunity high.

Stress is unavoidable, especially when we are navigating very unchartered territories at the moment but all we can really do right now is lean into the uncertainty and stay present. I don’t find that it helps to stress about 2 weeks from now. I have no clue what things will look like 2 weeks from now. I’m sure that 2 weeks ago no one could have even predicted this.

So, in the meantime I am doing all I can do to support my immune system and one of the things is making this DIY ginger firebomb drink every day.

It’s loaded with all the good immunity stuff – raw honey, turmeric and ginger.

Why raw honey? Raw and unpasteurized honey is loaded with antioxidants and its natural antibacterial and antifungal properties make it one of nature’s gems. Raw honey has no added sugars and will often solidify – this is fine. You can find it most grocery stores and if not you can most definitely find it in any health food stores. I love even taking a teaspoon of it straight even if I’m not sick.

Why turmeric? Turmeric has been around for years and is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory spice. You can buy it in powdered form or as the root (if you are buying it as the root and grating it just know it will stain your fingers yellow!). Turmeric is used in cooking, mostly in curries, but in the recent years it has become more popular and has been put into drinks, smoothies, etc. Whenever you are using turmeric you will also need to add in black pepper. The compounds in the black pepper will help increase the absorption of the curcumin (the healing compound) in the turmeric. Combining the two will magnify their effects.

Why ginger? Ginger in my opinion, can be considered a superfood. Ginger has been found to lower blood pressure, regulate blood sugar, its an anti-inflammatory, helps prevent nausea and can help reduce indigestion. Those are just a few – the list goes on and on.

As you can see combining all of these into a tonic makes for a powerhouse of a drink. I love ginger so I always add a little bit extra but adjust it to your preference.

Stay well and let me know how you enjoy the drink.
